{"id":1296,"date":"2015-02-22T22:15:57","date_gmt":"2015-02-23T03:15:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jerrysjuicebar.com\/blog\/?p=1296"},"modified":"2015-02-22T22:16:16","modified_gmt":"2015-02-23T03:16:16","slug":"ruminations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jerrysjuicebar.com\/blog\/?p=1296","title":{"rendered":"Ruminations"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><a href=\"http:\/\/jerrysjuicebar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Thoughts-from-a-laundromat.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1297\" src=\"http:\/\/jerrysjuicebar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Thoughts-from-a-laundromat.jpg\" alt=\"Thoughts from a laundromat\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jerrysjuicebar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Thoughts-from-a-laundromat.jpg 640w, https:\/\/jerrysjuicebar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Thoughts-from-a-laundromat-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>I ruminate a lot. \u00a0I\u2019m pretty sure this isn\u2019t a good thing.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>One definition of \u201cto ruminate\u201d is \u201cto think deeply.\u201d \u00a0But another definition is \u201cto chew one&#8217;s cud.\u201d I think a lot of my ruminations fall into the latter. \u00a0The \u201cchew your cud\u201d category.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>My mind is a lot like the front-loading dryer we have downstairs. \u00a0You stuff it with ideas &#8211; or in the case of the dryer, wet clothes &#8211; and you hit \u201cspin.\u201d \u00a0And off it goes!<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0All those things \u2013 ideas, worries, plans, thoughts, concerns, mysteries, relationships \u2013 all tossing around my\u00a0head like a mess of socks, underwear, t-shirts, jeans, and the occasional pair of Tom\u2019s shoes. \u2018Round and \u2018round and \u2018round. \u00a0There\u2019s the whirring and modestly rhythmic sound of buttons and zippers clicking and clacking. \u00a0Then the occasional \u201cclunk\u201d and \u201cthud\u201d of those Tom\u2019s shoes. \u00a0Bedump! Bedump! Bedump!<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>And then something happens. \u00a0I forget for a moment. \u00a0I go upstairs to watch a football game. \u00a0Maybe go for a run. \u00a0Take a nap. Have a meal. \u00a0A glass of wine. \u00a0Maybe two.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>But eventually I find\u00a0myself back at the downstairs front-loading dryer. \u00a0I see that the clothes have stopped spinning. \u00a0They\u2019ve been sitting there for awhile actually. \u00a0An afternoon? \u00a0A day? A week? So I pull out a polo shirt. \u00a0And I realize that it is one crumpled, wrinkled mess. Hideous. \u00a0I can\u2019t wear that! I can&#8217;t even fold it up.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>So I do what any other person too lazy to iron clothes will do.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>I turn on the dryer again. \u00a0And back they go.\u00a0 All those things I think about. \u00a0Ideas, worries, plans, thoughts, concerns, mysteries, relationships.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>\u2018Round and \u2018round and \u2018round. \u00a0Bedump! Bedump!
