{"id":452,"date":"2009-12-26T07:50:10","date_gmt":"2009-12-26T14:50:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jerrysjuicebar.com\/blog\/?p=452"},"modified":"2009-12-26T07:50:10","modified_gmt":"2009-12-26T14:50:10","slug":"a-christmas-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jerrysjuicebar.com\/blog\/?p=452","title":{"rendered":"A Christmas Season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You know it is Christmas at the home of Jerry&#8217;s Juice Bar when &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Every chair is occupied and every space on the leather couch is taken.\u00a0 And somewhere amidst the chairs and couches someone has dozed off &#8230; usually on the leather couch.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-454\" style=\"margin: 8px;\" title=\"95_2760\" src=\"http:\/\/jerrysjuicebar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/95_2760.jpg\" alt=\"95_2760\" width=\"256\" height=\"256\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jerrysjuicebar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/95_2760.jpg 350w, https:\/\/jerrysjuicebar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/95_2760-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/jerrysjuicebar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/95_2760-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 256px) 100vw, 256px\" \/>There is a constant boiling of water for coffee, hum of the dishwasher readying for the next meal, and the sound of someone, somewhere taking a shower, and the picking up of someone&#8217;s &#8220;stuff&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Friendly but foreign animals roam from person to person searching for a handout or just a hand that will pet a forehead or scratch an ear.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s a mountain of paper waste, boxes, wrappings, turkey carcasses, tins and coffee grounds overflowing the sole garbage can in the back yard.<\/p>\n<p>At any given time someone is sitting and reading, someone is on the computer, someone is watching television, someone is either going or preparing to go, and someone is coming back.<\/p>\n<p>And me?<\/p>\n<p>I get quiet.\u00a0 I reflect.\u00a0 I smile.\u00a0 I wish for things that could be.\u00a0 And am happy for things that are.<\/p>\n<p>Merry Christmas to all.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You know it is Christmas at the home of Jerry&#8217;s Juice Bar when &#8230; Every chair is occupied and every space on the leather couch is taken.\u00a0 And somewhere amidst the chairs and couches someone has dozed off &#8230; usually on the leather couch.
