{"id":563,"date":"2010-05-26T07:01:52","date_gmt":"2010-05-26T14:01:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jerrysjuicebar.com\/blog\/?p=563"},"modified":"2010-05-26T07:07:34","modified_gmt":"2010-05-26T14:07:34","slug":"lazy-daze","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jerrysjuicebar.com\/blog\/?p=563","title":{"rendered":"Lazy Daze"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was talking to my brother the other day.\u00a0 He had been talking my other brother.\u00a0 Both great guys.\u00a0 Brothers that people would die for.\u00a0 Kind, smart, funny, good husbands, wonderful sons.\u00a0 The whole package.<\/p>\n<p>One of them &#8212; I won&#8217;t say who &#8212; had a great personal observation.<\/p>\n<p>In a discussion about life and this tricky thing called ambition he jokingly said, &#8220;You know &#8230; my greed is only exceeded by my laziness.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/jerrysjuicebar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/couch-potato.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-564\" style=\"margin: 8px;\" title=\"couch-potato\" src=\"http:\/\/jerrysjuicebar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/couch-potato-300x180.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"216\" height=\"129\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jerrysjuicebar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/couch-potato-300x180.jpg 300w, https:\/\/jerrysjuicebar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/couch-potato.jpg 440w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 216px) 100vw, 216px\" \/><\/a>This is one of the great insights into the human condition.\u00a0 He could have been talking about me.\u00a0 He could have been talking about you.\u00a0 He could have been talking about ninety percent of humanity.\u00a0 We all want stuff.\u00a0 We all want nice things.\u00a0 We want good relationships.\u00a0 We want.\u00a0 We want.\u00a0 We want.<\/p>\n<p>But most of us are willing to work for what we want.\u00a0 We just want.<\/p>\n<p>This greed vs. laziness paradigm could just as easily be framed as a&#8221;[insert anything] vs. laziness&#8221; paradigm.<\/p>\n<p>Why do I think so?<\/p>\n<p>Because I read David Shenk&#8217;s book &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/tinyurl.com\/2efhavf\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>The Genius in All of Us<\/strong><\/a>.&#8221;\u00a0 (Actually, I&#8217;ve not read it &#8230; I just read the reviews)\u00a0 According to the book EVERYONE can be a genius.\u00a0 That&#8217;s right.\u00a0 You, my friend, could be the next Einstein.\u00a0 It is not genetic or nature.\u00a0 What prevents us from being a genius is &#8230; you guessed it &#8230; laziness!\u00a0 Here&#8217;s an excerpt of the review on Amazon.com<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Shenk argues that the idea we are either born with genius or talent, or  we aren\u2019t, is simply untrue.
