{"id":810,"date":"2012-02-06T06:41:28","date_gmt":"2012-02-06T13:41:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jerrysjuicebar.com\/blog\/?p=810"},"modified":"2013-01-08T08:15:46","modified_gmt":"2013-01-08T13:15:46","slug":"you-have-to-do-this-before-you-can-do-that","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jerrysjuicebar.com\/blog\/?p=810","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;You have to do this, before you can do that&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<a href=\"http:\/\/jerrysjuicebar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/3212296272_16009bf1871.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-987\" title=\"3212296272_16009bf187\" src=\"http:\/\/jerrysjuicebar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/3212296272_16009bf1871.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"291\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jerrysjuicebar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/3212296272_16009bf1871.jpg 500w, https:\/\/jerrysjuicebar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/3212296272_16009bf1871-300x174.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a>\n<p>My wife and I were reading the paper the other day and noticed a movement afoot in Virginia that would require women to get a sonogram and receive a picture of the fetus before having an abortion.<\/p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/jerrysjuicebar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/shaking-finger.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-811\" style=\"margin: 8px;\" title=\"shaking-finger\" src=\"http:\/\/jerrysjuicebar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/shaking-finger.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>\n<p>That got me thinking.<\/p>\n<p>What if we applied the same concept in other areas? \u00a0What if we looked at all the decisions that people make that could have a significant impact on them and those around them, and required them to watch, receive or do something before they took action?<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a short list that I came up with. \u00a0Feel free to add yours:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You must watch a fatal car accident before getting a driver&#8217;s licence (when I was young, they used to do this).<\/li>\n<li>You must go and watch cows being slaughtered in a slaughterhouse before eating a burger.<\/li>\n<li>You must look at pictures of chicken farms before ordering chicken tenders.<\/li>\n<li>You must view a vaginal birth before having sex.<\/li>\n<li>You must look at pictures of overweight people before eating sweets.<\/li>\n<li>You must review your bank account, credit statement and IRA before purchasing anything over $100.<\/li>\n<li>You must watch &#8220;Who&#8217;s Afraid of Virginia Wolf?&#8221; before getting married.<\/li>\n<li>You must go to an AA meeting before purchasing alcohol.<\/li>\n<li>You must spend time in a restaurant kitchen before going there to order a meal.<\/li>\n<li>You must watch videos of someone unclogging a (a) garbage disposal; (b) toilet; and (c) gutters, before buying a home.<\/li>\n<li>You must watch people clean the nightclub on Sunday morning before going there Saturday night.<\/li>\n<li>You must visit an inner-city faith-based charity before giving up on God.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So now it is your turn.<\/p>\n<p>What other things should people have to see (or do) before making decisions that could impact them and others?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My wife and I were reading the paper the other day and noticed a movement afoot in Virginia that would require women to get a sonogram and receive a picture of the fetus before having an abortion.
